Three Springs Flower Garden
Welcome to our garden. We are a newly developed enterprise here at the Three Springs Community. Over the last two years, our three acre (deer fenced) garden has been developed into an organic flower and native plant business. Originally, this land was cultivated as an organic CSA vegetable garden for seven years. Though the land has not been officially certified, our practices are within the guidelines and we look forward to certification in the near future.
We are excited to be growing flowers because of the extreme beauty the flowers bring to our home landscapes, and the profitability of flowers verses vegetables, in our climatic and environmental region. We have had an overwhelming response to our initial offering of garden subscriptions, and local retail sales. We will be expanding into the farmers’ market arena, restaurants and weddings.
We are growing a percentage of our community vegetables and fruits, with additional help from all community members, especially the children! This season we will establish a culinary and medicinal herb and plant garden for community use. We have future visions of raising chickens for eggs and manure, and goats for packing and fire fuel reduction.
The garden has become a central place for camaraderie, learning, laughter, music, cultural exchange, idea sharing, Earth education, fresh air breathing, team work, exercise through gardening, witnessing Nature first hand, art and yoga etc..
We have been welcoming many volunteers and apprentices
to learn how to organically farm, use the land
sustainably and live in a communal environment. The
worldwide web has linked us to the official volunteer
sites of WWOOF and Organic Volunteers. Already we have
welcomed folks from Nebraska, New York, Germany,
Massachusetts, Colorado, Minnesota and New Jersey,
with new applicants scheduled for next season.
We look forward to meeting you and growing together!
